Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
I draw from my 16 years of experience as a prosecutor as well as my passion for giving voices to the voiceless. My books aim to shed light on important social justice issues.
I provide individualized guidance through a customized program based on each person’s strengths, goals, and growth areas. My approach is compassionate and empowering.
I’ve delivered keynotes and led workshops at leadership and mental health and justice focused conferences conferences, author events, galas, commencements, and more. I’ve moderated speaker panels and Q&A’s at social justice movie screenings. I love speaking at events focused on law, advocacy, purpose, and empowerment.
After prosecuting for over a decade, I felt called to advocate in new ways while also reaching wider audiences. I realized I could combine my legal experience with my passion for storytelling to write gripping page-turners that also tackle real social issues. As an author I’m able to raise awareness and spark dialogue from a different vantage point.
For readers looking for a realistic legal thriller, I suggest starting with novels by Michael Connelly, which dive into the criminal justice system from the defense perspective. His books are fast paced, well researched and depict all sides of our system. For those interested in social justice themes, I recommend Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. He’s a juvenile lawyer who has advocated for children’s rights and us well respected in the field. I’m always happy to offer personalized recommendations too!
My writing process always starts with outlining, character sketches and chapter summaries. I like to start with the end in mind and think of it like a closing argument, because that informs the story. Then I settle into a rhythm of writing early in the mornings in my home office, early like 5am. I’ll write about 5 pages per day and wait to revise after my writer’s group has had their read of it. I enjoy rituals, so a matcha latte or coffee is always near!
As a law student, I was influenced by fictionalized memoirs like One L by Scott Turow and as a young prosecutor, The Firm by John Grisham. Today, I enjoy Michael Connelly’s collection of characters, especially The Lincoln Lawyer. I’m equally inspired by socially-conscious books addressing diversity and mass incarceration like The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander. And appreciate an inspirational memoir like Michelle Obama’s Becoming.
I start every engagement with a deep listening session to understand my client’s aspirations, strengths, growing edges and specific goals. From there I tailor each step of our program to address their unique needs and desired outcomes. While programs have an overarching structure, the experience is driven by where each client is starting from.
My approach is compassionate and empowering. I provide individualized guidance through customized programs based on each person’s aspirations, strengths, and specific goals. Sessions involve active listening and thought-provoking questions to provide perspective. I share principles and frameworks while also offering personalized strategies and accountability.
I’ve delivered keynotes and led workshops at leadership conferences, author events, galas, legal associations, women’s empowerment forums, commencements, and more. I especially enjoy speaking at events centered on law, advocacy, purpose-driven leadership, empowering women, diversity in publishing, and social justice.
I dive deep into understanding the event’s goals, audience makeup, and key topics to craft a completely customized speech. My talks pull from relevant stories while highlighting actionable insights tailored to each audience. Whether I’m speaking to lawyers, creatives, or graduates, I shape the messaging so it resonates.
For events requiring air travel, I ask that travel and lodging be covered by the event host. I’m happy to travel within driving distance without need for reimbursement. Ultimately, I’m flexible – please inquire!
At minimum, I require a microphone and projector/screen for presentation visuals synced to my laptop. I’m able to adapt to venues of all sizes. Additional sound amplification or stage lighting is welcomed but not essential.
With 2-3 weeks advance notice I can craft and polish a completely customized keynote. For new workshop sessions, 4-6 weeks allows me to design an impactful hands-on experience. I’m happy to discuss timeframes to make the process seamless.
You can watch video samples of my recent talks on my website here https://youtu.be/f9tLSklCcgo?si=XgImvIa5Oe_gLOyc. I’m also happy to provide references from past speaking engagements.
